Do you have stories to tell and are you thinking about the best way to tell them? Are you thinking about how you might use a mixture of movement, light, sound, music, and performance to make a piece of theatre? Have you heard of multi-disciplinary theatre making and want to know more about what it is? Would you like to find out more over a week at the Young Vic? If that sounds like you, then this course could be for you.
As an Introduction to Making participant, you will work with multi-practice writer and director Leo Skilbeck to:
- Learn some new skills around telling stories and how to use different elements when making live performance – like film, sound, queer performance, music.
- Explore techniques for developing ideas and performances.
- Explore what it means to be a multi-disciplinary/anti-disciplinary performance maker.
- Look at playwriting and getting started as a writer, as well as directing and approaching text work.
- Have a chance to think about what stories you want to tell and why you want to tell them.
- Find out a bit more about what your next steps might be if you find you want to take this further.
- Get to know other theatre makers and maybe make some connections for the future.
- See a show at the Young Vic and if possible go and visit a gallery or exhibition.
This will be a queer and trans centred space which is open and welcome to all.
