Menu

At the Young Vic, we strive to make your visit as enjoyable and accessible as possible.

This page covers our most commonly asked questions, from queries you might have about your tickets or your upcoming visit, to what we are doing to help keep you, our staff and artists safe as we reopen.

If you are displaying any symptoms of Covid-19, we ask that you do not visit the venue.

We will continue to update this page with all the latest information, so do check back nearer your visit.

We can’t wait to welcome you back.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY VISIT?

ENTERING AND MOVING AROUND THE THEATRE

We ask you follow our signage throughout the theatre. Our Front of House team will be on hand to help you on the day.

We will be operating timed entry slots for all shows to enable a more enjoyable seating experience. Please check your e-ticket to see what time you should arrive at the Young Vic for your performance.

E-TICKETING

To keep contact to a minimum, audiences will automatically be issued with e-ticket(s).

You will receive your e-ticket(s) to the email assigned to your booking 48 hours before the date of the performance you have booked for.

Any additional pre-visit purchases you make, such as programme or playtext vouchers, are emailed to you at the time of purchase.

If you still haven’t received your e-ticket by the morning on the date you'll be joining us, please contact box office.

These e-tickets do not have to be printed, but can be shown on your smartphone or similar device for us to scan on entry. If you don’t have a printer or smartphone, you can opt to have your tickets posted to you at the time of booking. There will be a £1 postage fee, and tickets will be posted within a week of your performance date.

THEATRE CAPACITIES AND SOCIAL DISTANCING

The majority of performances in the Main House are now being sold to full capacity. We are offering a limited number of performances as socially-distanced performances (50% capacity). In these performances, a much smaller selection of seats will be sold.

FACE COVERINGS IN THE THEATRE

We ask that all audience members wear a face covering unless medically exempt. Please wear your face covering at all times, except to eat and drink.

Audience members under the age of 12 are not expected to wear a face covering.

Members of staff will also be wearing face coverings, unless they are exempt.

By wearing a face covering, you are helping to protect our company, actors and staff, as we do all we can to ensure that ongoing performances are not disrupted. You are also helping to protect your fellow audience members.

Please remember that not all disabilities are visible, and we ask all audience members to treat each other and our staff with kindness.

CLEANING AT THE YOUNG VIC

Our theatre and facilities will be cleaned throughout the day. We carry out a regular ‘fogging’ procedure within the theatre space. This uses a virucide spray which remains active for several days. Toilets are cleaned throughout the day, before, during and after shows.

AIR CIRCULATION IN THE THEATRE

Our air handling system is fed by filtered fresh air. Used air is extracted to the outside and is not recirculated. Filters are changed as part of regular, routine maintenance and we have full control over the air system – both fan speed and temperature – throughout the theatre.

CLOAKROOM

The Young Vic has no cloakroom facility.  You will have to keep all your belongings with you when you attend the theatre.

THE CUT BAR

The Cut Bar & Restaurant is open Monday - Saturday for those wanting to order refreshments or dine before a performance. New menus offer delicious dishes, great wines, craft beers and popular cocktails. Book a table online here for drinks or dinner.

If you are arriving within 30 minutes of the start of the performance we recommend you pre-order your pre-show and interval drinks.

More information on this will be included in your pre-visit email.

If you’d like to enquire about booking The Cut for an event please give us a call or email using the details below.

ACCESS PROVISIONS

We aim to make our work as accessible to as wide an audience as possible.

If you have any specific access requirements, please contact us in advance so that we can make your visit as enjoyable as possible: boxoffice@youngvic.org

Details on captioned, audio described and relaxed performances, plus more information on Access, can be found here

WHEELCHAIR USERS

We offer a number of tickets for every performance for people who use a wheelchair. As our auditorium is different for every show, we suggest booking via the box office so we can make sure your seats are suitable and your visit is as easy and enjoyable as possible.

If you would like to purchase a wheelchair space for any of our other shows, then please get in touch via the Box Office.

INFRARED AMPLIFICATION SYSTEM

The Young Vic has an infrared amplification system for use by patrons during performances. Headsets can be collected from our Front of House team upon arrival at the theatre. Please let us know when you book if you want to take advantage of the system.

The box office counter also has an induction loop service.

Please note:  To help us ensure we have all the devices we need for every performance, we will ask you at the point of booking whether you will need a hearing device by emailing boxoffice@youngvic.org. Devices can be collected from the Box Office on arrival and will be cleaned thoroughly before and after every use.

ENTRY POLICY

We reserve the right to refuse admission if we believe that the health and safety of you, our staff or others may be compromised when these measures and mitigation practices are breached.

PURCHASING TICKETS IN BUBBLES AND SOCIAL DISTANCING

The majority of Young Vic performances in the Main House are now being sold to full capacity, in line with the UK Government guidelines. We are offering a limited number of performances as socially-distanced performances (33% capacity). In these performances, a much smaller selection of seats will be sold, and audiences will book into household bubbles.

CREDIT VOUCHERS

Any vouchers for cancelled performances issued from 24 August 2020 onwards will have a validity of 18 months from date of issue. If you have been issued a voucher for a cancelled show, you are still entitled to a full refund to the original payment method up until the point of your credit voucher’s expiry date, so please contact us before this date. Any unused credit vouchers after the stated expiry date will be converted into a donation to help support the Young Vic

SEATING PLANS

If you are booking for a show scheduled for much later in our season, you might not be able to see a seating plan when you book. This is because one of the things that makes the Young Vic special is that we completely transform our spaces to suit the unique design of each production. When we put a show on sale, you can buy tickets across different price zones, then when the seating design is confirmed closer to the time, we allocate your seats within your price zone. Closer to your performance date, we will be able to share with you your seat information. Our total auditorium capacity will be in line with UK Government social distancing guidance at the time of performance.
